Seventy-seven per cent of the construction works of the stadium in Recife had been finished by the end of November. At the end of the year around 85% of the project should be finished

The developer in charge of the construction works of the Pernambuco Arena, in São Lourenço da Mata (Recife metropolitan region), published a video this Tuesday (18.12) that shows a time-lapse sequence from the beginning of the building works to the end of November 2012. Through photography animation it is possible to see the progress of the construction works, which have reached the 77% conclusion rate, according to Odebrecht, company in charge of the project. At the end of the year, around 85% of the stadium in Recife should be finished.

Another video made by the construction company simulates colour changes in the arena’s façade. The Confederations Cup 2013 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil stadium in Recife will be coated by ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) films, which will be combined with LED lighting. The material, imported from Germany, is the same used at the Allianz Arena, stage of the final of the 2006 World Cup in Germany and at the Water Cube, the Aquatics Centre of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The technology enables the stadium to be personalised according to colours and visual patterns of the home teams or even in the tones used by some artist on his/her tour. The ETFE façade is expected to start being assembled in January 2013.

Inauguration
The ground’s inaugural match has been scheduled for 14 June 2013, at 17.00, as announced by the Government of the State of Pernambuco. With a total budget of R$ 500.2 million, R$ 400 million of which from federal financing, the stadium will be the stage of five 2014 FIFA World Cup matches.

The ground will also host three games of the Confederations Cup in 2013, all in the competition's group stage. The Pernambuco Arena will have 46 thousand seats.
