Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari called up 22 players this Thursday (31.10) for the friendlies against Honduras on 16 November in the United States and Chile on the 19 November in Canada.
Forward Robinho from AC Milan has made a return to the team and Willian (Chelsea midfielder), and Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain centre-back) are the two new names on the list. It is actually Marquinhos' first call-up for Brazil. He rose to fame in Corinthians, moving to Rome, before signing a contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Robinho had not been called up since 2011.
On the 25 October, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) anticipated five names on the list, so that players could apply for their United States entry visa. Atletico Madrid’s forward Diego Costa, PSG centre-back Marquinhos, Barcelona’s right back Daniel Alves, Zenit’s forward Hulk and Liverpool’s holding midfielder Lucas Leiva were called up. However, four days later, Diego Costa signed a letter underlining his intention to play for Spain. The player has dual nationality.
