President Dilma Rousseff will receive German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Brasília for a working dinner at the Alvorada Palace this Sunday (15 June). Merkel has come to Brazil to watch the debut of Germany against Portugal in the World Cup next Monday (16 June).
The German Chancellor is one of the many Heads of State and Government visiting Brazil for the World Cup. In the opening ceremony, Rousseff received UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Presidents of Ecuador (Rafael Correa), Bolivia (Evo Morales) and Chile (Michelle Bachelet). President Bachellet also watched her National Team win its debut against Australia by 3 x 1 in the Pantanal Arena.
Brazil is also expecting the Heads of State and Government of the BRICS countries (Russia, India, China and South Africa), who are meeting one day after the final match in Fortaleza for the 6th BRICS Summit. The United States Vice-President Joe Biden is also expected to attend the USA's debut against Ghana at the Dunas Arena.
