Brazilian government reaffirms commitments made to FIFA. Blatter reinforces joint work

The FIFA president said that he has not doubts that all preparation will be done as anticipated. The Minister of Sport of Brazil reiterated the intention of working in harmony and cooperatively in order to ensure the success of the World Cup

In a press conference after the meeting with the president of Brazil Dilma Rousseff, at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia, the president of FIFA Joseph Blatter affirmed that the president has assured that “all commitments made to FIFA by the country will be delivered for the World Cup. We are certain that this will happen.”

He defined the event as a good meeting and said that the idea, from now on, is for FIFA and the federal government to work even closer together, strengthening ties, having more regular meetings, to “hold the biggest World Cup of all times”.

The Minister of Sport Aldo Rebelo reinforced the issue of joint work between the levels involved in the country’s preparation for the World Cup. “The meeting was constructive, work focused and reaffirmed the common goal with FIFA of holding a great World Cup. The government intents of working in harmony and cooperatively”, he said.

Blatter complimented the attendance of Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé) at the meeting. According to the FIFA president, Pelé is an ambassador not only of the Brazilian government to the World Cup, but also of world football. In addition, he said to be happy with the attendance of Ronaldo, representative of the Local Organising Committee and affirmed that “the most important person on this journey has been the Minister of Sport Aldo Rebelo”.

According to Ronaldo, once more, President Dilma Rousseff clarified “the country’s effort in holding the World Cup. We are certain that we will have the biggest World Cup of all times”.
 
In his turn, Pelé was grateful for being able to attend the meeting and help clarify any possible points of misunderstanding. “Now I know that we shall move forward with harmony”, he said.

After the meeting at the Planalto Palace, Joseph Blatter will have lunch with the chairman of the House of Representatives, Marco Maia.
